Denel SOC is the largest manufacturer of defence equipment in South Africa. It operates in the military aerospace and landward defence environment. Denel was incorporated as a private company in 1992 in terms of the South African Companies Act (No 62 of 1973). The sole shareholder of Denel, is the South African Government.
Eskom produces about 95% of the electricity used in the country. It also generates approximately 45% of the electricity used in Africa. Eskom generates, transmits and distributes electricity to industrial, mining, commercial, agricultural and residential customers and redistributors. Additional power stations and major power must be constructed by the company to meet rising electricity demand in South Africa. Eskom claims that it will continue to “focus on improving and strengthening its core business of electricity generation, transmission, trading and distribution.”

Transnet is the largest and most crucial part of the freight logistics chain that delivers goods to each and every South African. Thousands of tons of goods are delivered and received each and everyday by Tansnet. The company is fully owned by the South African government but it operates as a corporate entity. Its aim is to both support and contribute to the country’s freight logistics network. It aims at developing South African industry, reducing the cost of doing business, while at the same time operating efficiently and profitably.
